Changing the default behaviour when Opening/Downloading an Office file

When some users click on a link that points to and office file, e.g. a
Powerpoint presentation, the file opens automatically in the browser. For
most user this is not the case; they get a Open/Save/Cancel/More Info dialog
box.

I'm assuming that this sub-group have at some point unchecked the 'Always
ask before opening this type of file'. Is this likely to be the case? How do
I return these browsers to the original behaviour?

Thanks

Hello CJM,

Thank you for posting!

Which behavior do you like more, to open in Internet Explorer, or not?

This should be related to the file types. Let us take Word document as an
example:

1. Open My Computer and click Tools>Folder Options.

2. Click the File Types tab and find the DOC extension.

3. There is an option "Browse in same window". If we uncheck this option,
Word documents will not be opened in Internet Explorer.

Hope this information helps. Thank you!
