When the XP was reinstalled on my machine the shop put in only my first
name. If I right click on My Computer, and select properties, my first name
comes up. This is the same name that comes up when I install a new
application.

How do I add my last name to this. I can't find the info anywhere.

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi,
change the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
RegisteredOwner

Reboot and that's it.

Thanks to all for the quick response.

It was a quick, easy process. Not sure why this is not in the Control
Panel, but this worked just fine.

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can
use Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.
