My daughter's computer was infected by a Trojan Virus that took over the Administrator's Password. How can I change the password now that I don't know what it is? The Administrator account does not display in the Control Panel-User Groups so I can't change it there. Any ideas?

Sounds slightly fishy, (are you sure you're not the daughter looking for a work around ? :)
but you can go into safe mode and do it. Reboot and hold down the f8 key. Under safe mode
you will see the admin. account and can go to the control panel and then user accounts,
Either delete the password for the account, or use the reset wizard to the left.

No story...all true unfortunately. Norton Antivirus found the file named: JS[1].JS which it identified as a Trojan Horse virus. Tried to access the Administrator Account through "Safe Mode" and the Administrator Account does not even display there! (If you are really interested, I just posted another message with further detail)

No, not the daughter, just the Dad trying to fix her computer so that I don't have to resort to formatting the drive and reinstalling XP and the other programs. Thanks for the tip on using "Safe Mode" but guess what, the Administrator account does not display there either. This virusdoes a wonderful job of protecting itself.

Hmm...then I'm afraid I can't help. MS usually reserves a system Administrator
account in Safe Mode - at least mine always has one there. If it didn't,
I'd be concerned too. Before you do a re-install, perhaps wait a bit for
another solution. Some pretty smart folks in here.
