Has anyone successfully changed the system volume drive
letter? This has happened a multitude of times and it's
very irritating. You install XP and allsorts of programs
and then get an error trying to unzip a file to the C:
Then you realize that the primary boot partition is not
C: it's E: Can this be changed? I have tried logging in
as ADMIN and trying ot change the letter, but it displays
a message"Windows cannot modify the drive letter of your
system volume or boot volume" Any clues?

Thanks in advance!

The boot drive can be changed, but not easily ...

The problem is, since you indicate you've subsequently installed "all sorts
of programs', that all these programs now point to E: and would have to be
re-installed. In this case, if E: as the boot drive really bothers you,
best to follow Nicholas's advice and start from scratch. Otherwise, just
'live with it'.
