I need to know how to change startup options. I tried
typing startup in the run box but it didn't help me out
in changing startup options. As of now every time I load
up my computer it loads up my personal folder, the system
32 folder, MSN Chat, WINMX and the dialup internet
connection. How do I get rid of these annoying things
that slowdown startup process?

Hi there

Apply a tiny patch to disable system32 folder from opening @ startup, download from here
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/xp_system32opens.vb

Usage: Download the file to your computer and simply double-click it so that it would automatically get installed. Norton anti-virus software might warn you of a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. I recommend you to choose "Authorize entire script" option next Action

See here for manual instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=17008

Furthermore, implicate MSConfig to disable other startup programs

Click Start->Run type MSCONFIG and and click OK

Choose Startup tab and uncheck all desired programs and click Ok. Restart the computer when prompted
