changing share name

I want to change the share name of the root of C: on the XP home.

I gave it a name once, and now I want to change it.

I cannot. I click in the share name, and it won't let me modify the share
name. I'm logged on with an admin account.

Why?

Un-share the disk, then re-share it with the desired share name.

I thought I tried that.

I removed the checkmark for sharing, and then rechecked it. The same name
was still there.

:-)

Maybe I need to reboot inbetween.

No reboot is needed. After your remove the checkmark, click OK to
close the window. Then, right click the disk, click Sharing and
Security, and re-share it with the new name.
