I've been trying to set up a new "my name" folder under Documents and
settings in XP.
reason being cookies are coming in with my old "my name" shown. and I just
don't want my name on this laptop.

Yesterday I had a problem with cookies continuing to come in to old "my
name" cookies folder with old "my name" prefixed to cookie address

So I went into registry and did a change to shell folder and user shell by
changing some files showing old "my name" to new "my name" and changing
cookies to new "my name"

Cookies are now going into new "my name" folder which is good. Cookies are
not going into old "my name" folder. and happy with that.

problem is they are still coming into new "my name" cookie folder with old
"my name" @ cookie address.

what am I missing here?

You'll have to eliminate every single cookie on your machine that contains
your old address. They're being accessed and renewed while you surf.

Okay. I went to do a search of every file with "my name" in it in front of @
and as a cookie.
I went and found a bunch. A lot were in recycle. I went to internet
options deleted all and cleaned out recycle.
went back and repeated search and as above all are gone.
then i did a couple of searches to google and back to explorer C:\documents
and settings\old name\cookies and found nothing except index.dat file
went to C:\documents and setting\new name\cookies and found both google
cookies with old name in front of @.
Your suggestion while good did not work.
Let's say you were to suggest I delete everything in old "my name" folder.
everything I could. Suppose cookies regenerated itself I might have same
problem except everything his would be gone.
