Is there a way to have Office applications (PowerPoint in particular) have
the "print current page" setting as default?

TIA

Chris Windsor

Hello Chris,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for.
Some default print settings can be customized on a per-presentation basis
(Tools -> Options, Print tab), but there is no way to specify custom
default print settings for new presentations.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide a way of customizing the default print options (without having to
resort to VBA or add-ins to control the printing), don't forget to send
your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Chris,
Shyam has a new tool called "Save the Trees" that lets you specify that you
want to print handouts. I wonder if you could work with him and get a custom
version to just print the current page....

I'll make the suggestion to Microsoft. FYI, here's my reason for the
capability... today in our weekly staff meeting, one of our analyst ask
about it because he was fustrated as to how several times he has
accidentally printed out a large report he was working on when all he wanted
was the page he was viewing. He said that he always just needs to print a
portion of a report, and most of the time it's just the page he's viewing;
and so wanted the ability to set that as the default print setting. Our
printer is networked, and is "down the hall" from most users; so sometimes
they click on just print without thinking and the result is ALOT of wasted
paper and toner, as well as tying up the printer.
