I screwed up my MBR, so I moved the disk to the slave position and used another disk to boot. Everything works fine, but I can't access my old Documents and Settings user directory. I checked the faq and tried to disable simple file sharing so I could get to the security tab on the directory properties page, but the menu items the faq mentions aren't there for me.

I hit Start then My Computer
On the tools menu, I clicked Folder Options and then the View tab.
Next, it says to go to Advanced Settings, but there is no such option for me.

When I right click on my user directory in Documents and Settings (on the old hard drive) and click Properties, I don't see a Security tab.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really like to get access to my old user directory...

Here's the document I was using:

"Advanced settings" is the name of the box on the "View" tab page with all
the options in it. Just look in that list to disable Simple File Sharing.

You can only do this with XP Pro edition, not XP Home

I didn't state that clearly...I meant that there was no Simple File Sharing check box to deselect. Obviously, I'm running XP Home.

Do you know of any way to get around this with XP Home?

Thanks a lot for your help...
