changing outlook 2003 from pop3 account to exchange server account

Folks currnetly we have our users accessing exchnage via pop/smtp for mail.
This was maily because our exchange sevrer is located remotely without anyway
to access except for pop3. We recently installed a VPN to the servers
location and have tested the connectivity for using full exchange. It all
works fine. My question is all of the past mail is located on the users
machines in outlook. If we change the account type from pop3 to exchange I
know there will be some issues. I was hoping someone had some experiance or
quidance as to what to expect. DO we need to export the exisitng mail on
thier pc to a pst file and then import again? Will they have all their own
mail plus anything new via the new account. I think there will be an issue
with the folders etc. but I'm not sure. Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all replies.

The change is relatively straight-forward (or, at least. it was for me).
Set your delivery location to be the Exchange mailbox and then open each
folder in the PST, select all the items with CTRL-A, and choose Edit>Copy to
Folder, specifying the appropriate mailbox folder as the destination. With
the Calendar, you'll have to switch to a table view like By Category before
CTRL-A will work.
