changing motherboards

Hello! I'm running Win2k Pro on a gigabyte motherboard
700 mhz AMD generic pc...i want to change the motherboard
and processor...Shuttle motherboard and AMD 2400
processor...a completely different brand from what i'm
currently running. I dont want to have to reload win2k on
my drive...can i do this, or will i have to reload the
OS? Thanks to all in advance.

Go to support.microsoft.com and search for Moving to New Hardware; and In
Place Upgrade.

Also, bookmark that site - you'll need it again.

And shell out a few bucks for one of those W2K books that are now being
remaindered because Microsoft has announced it will phase out support for W2K
in a couple years or so.

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll most likely need
to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the
very least (and don't forget to reinstall any service packs and
subsequent hot fixes):
