Changing line color within a chart

I have a spreadsheet that tracks the gas mileage for my vehicle and
displays it in a simple line graph. I have moved to different parts
of the country a couple of times, and this resulted in noticable
changes to my gas mileage. I would like to change the color of the
line to reflect the dates of those changes.

I don't want to have multiple graphs; I would like a single line that
simply changes color starting at data point X, then changes again at
datapoint Y. I'm willing to treat them as separate series (although
my first try at that didn't work as desired) or whatever I need to do,
but I want the appearance of continuity from a single line.

Any suggestions?

I'll be curious what the MVP's have to say, but in both a
line chart and a scatter chart (either one a viable option
for you), line formatting between any two data points may
be changed by editing the data point to the right of the
segment you wish to format. Select the data point by
clicking it *twice* (*not* double clicking), and choose
Format>Selected Data Point. Line formatting options are in
the same dialog box (Format Data Point).

Creating multiple series should work. What did you try and how did it
fail?

Also, what is on the x-axis? Date? Miles on odometer? And, I assume
the y-axis is miles-per-gallon?
