Changing keyboard mapping

I have Windows XP Home edition.

I use the Copy, Cut and Paste functions a lot, and find it slows me down
having to use two keypresses to invoke these with ctrl<C> etc. (I cannot
touch type, so my
keyboard skills are not so hot). I would very much like to have a single
kepress for these functions, using the F1, F2 and F3 keys, which I never use
for their normal purpose. Obviously, I would like the facility to work in
Windows XP and all applications.

I have tried downloading a number of key mapping utilities, but they either
do not allow for above, or they are too complicated and/or too expensive. I
feel that such a simple utility should be low-cost, say under £15, or even
free. Can anyone advise, if such keyboard customizing can be done with
Windows, or suggest a suitable download?

Many thanks,

(I cannot touch type, so my

Then why not use your right click menu with your mouse?

Depending on what program you're talking about, most of these are available
in right click (context) menus...

Hi Wes,

Thanks for your quick reply.
I am aware of the facility to assign mouse buttons, and in fact I used to
have a 5 button mouse with copy and paste on the two extra buttons.
There were two problems:
1. I still found it a bit awkward to use the extra buttons
2. I swap frequently between Windows and Linux, and the change of mouse
button function interfered with proper operation of the mouse in
Linux
Hence my wish to have copy, paste and cut as single keyboard presses.
