Who can tell me if it is a great risk to change the
ipnumbers of the domain controller (W2K Active
Directory!). What must you do?

If the change is only the memberservers, is it than also a
great risk (I think not).
Thanx

A couple of things... If your DC is also a DNS server - you will have to
update clients with new IP address for their primary DNS server - Big thing!
Can be done, but would require some planning and off hours changes (think of
DHCP clients with leases as well as static assigned addresses that require
manual updates).

If it is just a DC and DNS services are elsewhere - you could do it and then
run a "ipconfig /registerdns" from the command line (maybe a "net stop
netlogon" and "net start netlogon" for good measure). You will probably
have some missed replication cycles but it should come back ok and catch up
as the servers learn of the new IP address.

As for the replication issues - you might have to watch the DS logs in event
viewer to see if all your replicating DCs are happy again.

This isn't something to be taken lightly, but it can be done with the proper
planning. You would probably want to do this off hours as well.
