Have a new XP machine that I want to add to my home network. I want
the XP machine to be the Host computer. How do I change my old
computer that is running 2000 pro from Host to client?

Thanks
Elliot

Please explain exactly what you mean with "Host computer".
Are you working in a workgroup or domain environment?

Workgroup

My XP machine was set up as a host and I can't have two host machines
on the same network, right? The laptop I had networked into the 2000
machine was recognized by the new XP machine but not my 2000 pro
desktop.

Hope I'm making this clear.

You write "My XP machine was set up as a host". This does not
mean much in current Windows parlance. Did you set it up with
some shares that could be accessed by other machines on the
network? If so then you must create those same shares on the
new machine.

Also remember that Win2000/XP is a secure operating system.
This means that if you log on as "Elliot" on the laptop then there
must be an account "Elliot" on the other machine, with the same
password. If there isn't then you will be treated as a stranger
while working off the laptop.

All Windows machines (NT Class especially which includes
XP) are both Servers and Clients for many purposes automatically.

For instance, they all use and offer file shares and print shares.

They can all have Web services and be Web clients etc.

What precisely do you wish to DO, or NOT DO, differently?

I want to be able to share files and printers on all three computers.
When I go to through the wizard process the two desktop computers will
not recognize each other.

Please pardon my ignorance.
