Changing Headers when Inserting

I have several documents that have their own headers. I need to combine these separate documents into one large document, yet maintain their sperate and unique headers. When I insert file, the headers change or go away completely?? Will I have to go back and edit and change each sections header?

Hi Leah,

This can be tricky and maddening!

Are you inserting a Next Page section break before inserting each new file?

If a file C is inserted on the same page where file B finishes, file C's
header/footer will be replaced by File B's.
But, if you put a Next page section break just at the end of file B in the
"large" document, then insert file C.... it should work.

Cheers!

Hi Leah and Jean-Guy

You can make it a bit more systematic and predicatable by inserting the next
page section break at the end of each of the source files, before importing
into the combined document. That section break will 'pick up' the headers
and footers of the last (or only) section of the document, which are
otherwise hiding in the last para mark.
