Changing HD controllers

When I remove the ribbon cables from a PCI HD controller (in my case an
ultra66) onto the mobo's 33 onboard controller, do I have to reinstall the
driver first, or does the driver handle that mode? I've never changed
controllers before.

I have an NT4 WS machine and want to dual boot XP pro, but am having
problems using the Promise ultra66 controller. The boot drive sounds like
"clickity clack" about once a second for 8 or 9 times during shutdown due
to newer driver courtesy of XP. On reboot XP loads OK. I see on usenet
others had this problem back in 2001. Will try an ultra100TX2.
