Put in a new harddrive and reloaded Windows XP home. But when I did it
was assigned a letter other than C. Will this cause problems and if so
can I rename it without messing things up?

No, you need to start from scratch and
perform a "clean install".

No, other than its being an annoyance to many people.

No, you can't rename it at all.

This is no real problem. XP will work normally.
The only way to change the drive letter that XP is installed on, is to do a
clean install.
A way to make sure this will not happen again is to disconnect the second
drive
install XP , and after that is done, then reconnect the second drive.
