Hello All,
I have reviewed the literature and am confused and maybe someone can help. I have two computers both with registered copies of windows xp. I want to take the hard drive of one and put it into the other as the only drive (basically a user with some specific software that I don't want to try and reinstall on her old computer needs a new computer). Can I do that? I know it wont boot up. I have read people talk about using XP Repair Reinstall to fix it, but then hear I need a new activation code. But that doesn't make sense to me. I have two registered copies of XP and two computers. Why do I need to use 4 registions for it (since I would need one for each change)? Am I missing something? Please help

I moved a WXP hard drive to a new computer and called up MS who gave me a new
activation code over the phone without question and without cost.

I don't believe you need a new code to do a Repair Reinstall though.
