changing from crt monitor to a lcd tv with pc input

I have recently purchased a new lcd tv with a pc input that I intend to use
as my PC monitor at home and tv and dvd player when in my caravan. When I
plug it in the screen appears to work well, it gets as far as the user log on
screen before the message input not supported, can anybody help me with why,
I have updated my driver settings and also played around with the display
settings in the control panel, unfortunatly this does not work, it does
however display if booted up into safe mode, please help

Whether or not your LCD TV can display the resolution/refresh rate you are
trying to push on it is determined by the LCD TV's specifications.

My suggestion...

Before connecting it to the LCD TV - change the resolution to 800x600 and
the refresh rate to 60Hz. Then connect.
(Oops - you seem to be in the UK - perhaps 50Hz?)

now that is the first time I have ever heard this...

what on earth does the refresh rate of the monitor have to do with
location.

No it is not dependant on the frequency of the alternating current in your
area.

Well - one can never be too safe.
If they do not have the setting - they will use 60Hz.

Thankyou all very much, I turned the resolution to maximum setting 1024x
something, this enabled me to see it working although it was very small. I
have now reduced it down 1x1 until I had the best picture. Quite simple
really when you know how. Point of interest runs 60hz in uk

The refresh rate she was talking about has nothing to do with uk AC only the
refresh rate the monitor supports which can be 50 60 70 80 or higher and all
the above or just 50 and 60.

Now that it is working, try increasing it to 70 and on up the scale.
