changing format

Have have now thanks to the help found the place "where and how" to convert
to DV-AVI format. However, now the thing gets stuck about half way, it wants
me to check that the original file is still there and that I have enough disk
space (I have 40 Gig.). Inshort, unable to complete the conversion. What now?
