I cannot seem to change the font of either window text,
internet explorer text or taskbar text from tahoma. I
hate that font and it's driving me mad. How come I can
change everything but those 3 things?

Start >Settings >Control Panel >Display >Appearance
Advanced. Click the down arrow by "Desktop" to reveal
list. Click "Inactive Title Bar" and you'll be able to
change fonts which will change what you want. Be sure to
OK and Apply your way out. Hope this helps.

I have changed all the possible settings in the appearance
tab and still I have tahoma on the taskbar.

Those are three separate specialized text fonts. The
internet browser is under tools-options-general-font
(select and click ok). The Windows taskbar font is under
your display in desktop properties and the text on
documents is in your template in Word.
