changing file types

Is it possible to change .tif files to .jpg files ? A friend scanned some
photos and saved them to disk as .tif files, but I want to use them as
backgrounds for my mobile phone, and they need to be .jpg files.

Open them in something and save as jpeg. Paint will do it.
