Slownut,
If what Carey answered you is not your problem, you can open the bmp's
in your PAINT program and merely do a FILE/SAVE AS and at the bottom of the
dialogue window where it says files of type, use the drop down and select
jpg-jpeg and hit the save button.. This will convert and compress the file.

Open the BMP. File in Paint, then go "save As". When the
Save As box comes up, there should be a little drop down
box called "Save AS Type". Click the drop down box and you
will see all the file types you can save as. Click JPEG
And Save!!!
