Changing File Extensions

I had a file that Power Point 2007 was supposed to open so when Vista told me
to change the extension i did and now ALL shortcuts (No matter what they
pointed to) say ''This is not a valid win32 application'' the file extension
was .lnk . any way to unset it from power point 2007?? it wont let me remove
the association in the control panel.
