Thanks for the help.

1) It's NTFS.
2) In many ways it is better. Performance during gaming is "up in the air"
as far as I am concerned, but the security and space you gain is worth it.
Read the next web page for more information:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...oc/en/choosing_between_ntfs_fat_and_fat32.asp

Open a Command Prompt and type in "convert /?". This should help.

.
Hello
you might keep in mind that all files saved in FAT32
format will be unaccessable after switching to NTFS and
you can not switch back to FAT32 without reformating

Come again?
The built-in converter is supposed to convert the entire drive.

I think what you meant was any older OS that is NTFS-illiterate trying
to access the data will not be able to.

Why would they build in a converter that will render all the files on
the drive useless? "Files saved" as you refer to them, include
Windows!

Hi Jim,

You will be able to access all the files from Windows XP or Windows 2000
once the drive has been converted. Windows NT SP4 might be able to access
some of the files. Only older (non-NT based) operating systems such as
Windows ME, 98, or 95 and DOS will not be able to access the files.
