About to upgrade the standard AMD fan on my XP 2600 chip.

Anyone have experience with this as I`m a little concerned about having to
scrape of the putty type material that was the original thermal compound
that
came with the chip/fan combo from AMD.

Thanks

It's not a big deal, Andy. Yes it can be intimidating when you haven't done
it - it cert was for me - but really it's pretty straightforward. There's
really not that much scraping as opposed to acetone (or alcohol) wiping.
Just take your time, and make sure you're not putting pressure on areas that
are sensitive.

Please post a follow-up.

This is a 5 videos (high & low quality) of how to install heatsink and fans
for AMD XP processors. Just click on the 3rd and 4th ones for a video of how
they did it.

this link leads to relevant cpu/heatsink installation for the rest of AMD's
processor families.
