Changing Durations

I've created a movie of still pictures and added background music. I spent a considerable amount of time editing the music to fit my length of move. I then added transitions which shortened the length of my movie and now it does not match the music. This is my first time using the program and it looks like I should have done the transitions first because I can't change the duration of the still pictures after they are on the storyboard. It would be much easier to adjust the duration of the photos to fit the music than to adjust the music to fit the photos. I know I can change each pictures duration individually but very time consuming. I'm extremely frustrated with this program. If anyone has advice on making this easier I would greatly appreciate it. If no solutions, any recommendations on a better program? Thanks
Phil

Hello there,

On the timeline, simply drag the right side of your still to the right.
That will increase the duration for that still. Repeat this as necessary.

In Addition a quick look at the help file and entering the word DURATION
produced 16 documents on the subject...here is the first part of the first
document...

Specifies the default amount of time you want pictures to display in your
project when added to the Video track of the timeline or to the storyboard.
The default duration is determined by the current setting when the clip is
added to the storyboard/timeline. For example, if you imported several
pictures and then added them to the storyboard/timeline with the Picture
duration option set to five seconds, the pictures added to the Video track
would display for five seconds. However, if you changed the default duration
to 10 seconds and then added pictures to the storyboard/timeline, the newly
added pictures would display for 10 seconds

Open up your movie in Windows Movie Maker. Click TOOLS > OPTIONS and click Advanced. Set the seconds for the duration you would like for each picture. Play around with it until it works to your liking. Be careful on how long you set it for transitions. If you have it too long (ie. over a seconbd) it may not appear favorable. I found that when I had lengthened it, it would show a glow in the middle of the picture and then continue with the transition. Also, make sure the Video Format is correct for where you live. I just discovered that NTSC is for certain areas of the world and PAL is for other areas of the world. NTSC is for United States.

So are you saying that there is no way to increase the duration of multiple clips once we put our still photos in the storyboard?

Hello There,

To all of you who sent emails about the website, and for any of you who
might wonder what's going on....I took an overdose of idiot pills some time
this afternoon....and deleted most of the website from the server!!! I
actually sat there watching one directory after another vanish and thinking
"that seems to be taking rather a long time" Well it took long enough for
most of the site to disappear.

The complete web site is now uploading, as it is rather large this will
take some time to achieve So please hang on...service will be resumed as
soon as the idiots pills wear off!
