Changing drive letter assingments

I have installed a second hard drive that has 5 partitions. The drive
assingments are not correct and I need to change them. 98 se was a snap, but
XPpro has me confused!!! XP is installed in 32 fat mode to allow running of
older programs.
 
Right click on My Computer, select Manage, then under the Storage option
select Disk Management.
Now in the right hand pane right click on the partition that you want to
change the drive letter and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.
Then click the Change button and pick a letter from the pull down list.

Well, that's easy enough, but I am still having trouble. I have a SCSI MO and
SCSI CDR plus EIDE DVDRW and CDRW installed, and they are intermingled with
the hard drive assingments. The MO drive is actually the worst, it is taking
"D" They are the ones that I am needing to change. They are MO,D, CDR I,
DVDRW,J, CDRW, K, My HD's are C master, second C is assigned C is G, D is E,
E is F, F is H, G is L,
A real mess causing all kinds of problems trying to get every thing working
right.

You need to start by moving/re-assigning a Partition or CD/DVD to a
lower/unused letter (Examples: R, S, T, Etc) and thus freeing up one of the
needed drive letters. Once you have the drive letter freed up then assign
the correct Drive Partition or CD, DVD to that letter. Keep repeating the
process until you back to normal.

After moving everything down, and rebooting, I was able to assign drives the
way I wanted. I really like the way XP finds the program and fixes the drive
letters! Microsoft did some planning on that one!
