I want to change how I view web pages and emails for easier reading. I know
there is a procedure but can't remember. Thanks for helping.

I'm sure we could help you if you had but told us what would make
"easier reading" for you and also what browser and email client you are
using.

Here is a link that will show you what details to include in your next
post:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

In the meantime, if the issue is font size you can go to each program's
Help menu or even XP's Help & Support and look for "fonts". If that
isn't it, then post back with the missing information.

I have IE and Outlook Express. However, as one gets older, high resolution
is good but it is nice to be able to read the screen easily. I thought
Windows had a way to change how icons, etc. looked.

It does - got to control panel-display-appearance and change the setting in
font size. This will change all text display - not just IE & OE.

If you use the default rather than traditional control panel setting then
you may not see the display icon on the first page but one of the options
you get should take you to it.

It does, but there was no way for me to read your mind as to what you
wanted to know. :-)

To change fonts in IE and OE (which shares IE's font settings):

Increase font size from View>Text Size>Largest (set as desired). If you
have a mouse with a scroll wheel, you can also change the font size by
holding the Ctrl key down and moving the scroll wheel at the same time.

To change the size of Icon fonts and other system fonts, go to Control
Panel>Display>Appearance>Advanced and you will see where you can use
the drop-down arrow to change some interface elements. Where the
element has a font associated with it, you can change the size. Make
only one change at a time and see how you like it instead of doing
loads of changes and then not knowing how to get back to something you
like.

You can run the Accessibility Wizard. Start > All Programs > Accessories >
Accessibility.

You can hold down the Ctrl key & move the mouse's scroll button toward you
to increase the size of text/images on your screen......or move it away from
you to decrease size. It works on web pages, OL, OE, MS Word & every other
program that I have tried it with.

It's a Windows standard, but nevertheless it does not work on every program.
As a single example of a program where it doesn't work, try Notepad.
