How do I change the default view for the insert picture pane from large icons to preview? I do a lot of picture inserts and want the "Insert Picture" pane view to always be preview.

The default in recent versions is Thumbnails, from which I gather you must
have an older version of Word or Windows?

Tim,

This is one of the disasters in Word2002. It is fixed in
Word2003. If you stick with Word2002 you can get some
sucess with the following macro:

Sub InsertPicture()
'
' InsertPicture Macro by Bob Buckland ?:-)
' Inserts a picture from a graphics file
' Sets the View to Pre(v)iew with SendKeys
' View choices [change last Sendkey Letter]
' D - (D)etails view
' G - Lar(g)e Icon view
' L - (L)ist view
' M - S(m)all Icon view
' R - P(r)operties View
' V - Pre(v)iew View

SendKeys ("%L{LEFT}V")
Dialogs(wdDialogInsertPicture).Show

End Sub
