I purchased an almost new NOTEBOOK with XP Home on it from a friend
who decided he did want the computer. My friend, however, had already
ACTIVATED XP using his name/moniker so that the DEFAULT USER folders
cary HIS MONIKER.
I have searched & reviewed old posts. From them I HAVE BEEN ABLE to
change the REGISTERED OWNERS NAME thru REGEDIT @
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT,
however, I have not been able to actually change the visible FOLDER
SETTINGS.
They appear as MY-MONIKER\OLD-NAME-MONIKER.
I found the following comment and suggestion by ANANDO on April 30,
2003 at:
http://www.google.com/groups?hl=en&[email protected]#link3
in which ANANDO states:
"It is not possible to rename the folders in the Documents and
settings
folder. If you must remove the folders bearing the name of the
previous
owner, you will have to delete this account and creata a new account.
Though you can save all your documenst and settings through the Files
and
settings transfer wizard found under start>all
programs>accesorries>system
tools. Later you can restore all the seetings and documents through
the same
tool."
I have NO CLUE how to do this. First off because the system will not
let me delete the OLD-NAME Account (which I've renamed MY-MONIKER).
DOUG KNOX offered, perhaps, some closer understanding of this on Dec.

however, that suggestion dealt with two different computers, and did
not indicate how to DELETE the OLD-MONIKER.
Your collective knowledge is most needed and appreciated!
Thank you.
