Changing Default Save Location

Any available registry hack or alternate method of
changing the default save location in IE? I put all new
downloads directly on my desktop, not into My Documents.

I'm aware that it's just one click to jump to the desktop
across a single session and that the new location is
retained -- I'd still like IE to default to the desktop
ALL the time.

Strangely, Google searches resulted in nothing on this.

Not afraid of hacking the registry -- please give me the
key codes to navigate through it, if this is possible.

Win 98SE. Incidentally, I'm not interested in third party
add ons that might help.

Thanks.

To change the default download folder, close all instances of IE and then
open regedit.exe, navigate to this
registry branch:

<HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer>

Double-click the "Download Directory" string value and enter the full path
of your own download folder.

Then close regedit.exe, and restart IE.

Beautiful -- thank you.

I'm surprised I couldn't find this via Google. Maybe a
poor choice of keywords. I trust TweakUI and X Setup, but
neither have options for this.

An easy Registry hack -- thanks very much!
