Changing Default paper size

I can't find any information anywhere about how to change the default paper
size in excel and publisher.

I inherited 6 computers which have all been haphazardly thrown together and
I'm gradually changing all the settings etc to a user friendly standard...

I found instructions for Word, but Excel and Pub both still default to
Letter...

I don't have access to the install media or codes, or any newer versions.

Can this even be done - I would think that this would be a common problem...

File, page setup, page (tab), paper size: A4 (210 x 297mm)

applies to that page only. You might want to change your templates.

Yes - Obviously I've done that, that doesn't change the default paper size.
Hence my posting a question on the forum re how to change the default paper
size.

You mentioned changing templates, but you seem to have missed the bit at teh
end where you gave some hints as to how to do it or which templates to change

If you meant I did not give you directions on how the create the templates
that is correct.

See http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/template.htm

you want to change or create a book.xlt with changes made to
each sheet., and so that you can create additional sheets in a workbook
you also want to create a sheet.xlt workbook with only one worksheet.a.
again with your customize changes for that sheet.
