Hello

Is it possible to change the default location (My Documents) of opening
files to my choice of folder? i.e. When I click on the icon for opening a
file in MS Word, I want it to go straight to the Shared folder. Actually,
would this option be only available in the specific program?

Thanks for your attention and any help you can give me

David

Hi David,

Winword checks for the registry value "DOC-PATH" in the following location:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Options]

If this is not present, it takes your "Personal" ie., my documents folder as the default open/saveas location.

You may want to create a key named "DOC-PATH" in the above location and assign the folder name there. Close and open Winword. The default directory will be set.
