Upgrading from ME to XP has made my WordPerfect 7 unusable. I do not want
to purchase an upgrade for WordPerfect. I need to bring forward my Word
program to make it the default program. Right now when I try to create a
..doc file, WordPerfect comes up instead and jams everything up. I've been a
couple of days trying to accomplish this, but have now admitted defeat. I
know in my heart that this should be easy, so please embarrass me by
providing the few words that will straighten out this mess.

Press Start button
Click on Run
Type "control folders" (without the quotes)
Press enter
Click on Files tab
Scroll and find the file extension(s) in question (In this case .doc files)
Highlight it
Click change
And follow the prompts to select Word

Find any doc file and right-click on it. Choose "Open With." Scroll down to
Word, check the box "Always use this program..." and click OK.
