I'm using Excel 2003 on XP Pro.

I want to change the default font so that all new text will be in the
specified default.

I went to Tools > Options > General > Standard Font and set the
desired font. I closed Excel and reopened it, but new text does not
use the new default.

What am I missing?

Hi
You're missing nothing, are you sure you closed Excel program, not just
the worksheet.
Yes.

If you go back to your settings, are they really changed?
Yes.

Last resort, you can close the computer (Reboot) but you should't have
to do that.

Done that too.

The only thing that changes is the text in the Name Box and the
Formula Box. New cell text remains at the original 10pt.
