This may be a simple question but is there a way to change the default
address book in Outlook 2000 SP3? If there is, I'm having a heckuva time
finding it. We are a POP3 environment.

Thanks.

Open the Address Book, Tools->Options.

If you are using Outloook 2000 in Internet Mail Only mode, the Contacts folder is always the default, IIRC. If you're in Corporate/Workgroup mode, choose Tools | Services | Addressing.

Here's where I'm at. I was using Outlook in Internet Mail Only mode. So I
changed it to Corporate/Workgroup mode and that got me a step closer to what
I need done. What I have going on is we have a basic POP3 email server. I
purchased a program that installs a plug-in into Outlook which allows me to
have shared calendars and shared Contacts that are run off of a separate
server; the Contacts and calendars look and act exactly like the built-in
options. On my Outlook 2002 PC's, I can go in to the address book - Tools -
Options and change which address list should be shown first; the third party
program shows up for options. In Outlook 2000, in Corporate/Workgroup mode,
I have the option to change this but the third party contacts do not show up
as an option.

Any other ideas?

Sounds like you have not enabled those other contacts folders to appear in the address book. Bring up the folder's Properties dialog and check the Outlook address book box.

Aaaaaaahhhhhh...........that did it. I guess I got a little spoiled with OL
2002. I did as you said and put a check mark in the 'Show this folder as an
email address book' under the Outlook Address Book tab and now it shows up.
Thanks a ton for your help!

Hello,

After we installed Windows XP, MS Office 2003 and Visio 2003 and then
updated all via microsoft.com the Outlook Express icons no longer display on
the menu bar. Can't figure out why. halp appreciated. Outlook works fine and
the text is there, but no icons. I figure there is a setting that got turned
off, but I can't find it.

If you could email me to (e-mail address removed) I would appreciate it. thanks
much.
