how do i change the default action for drives in My Computer?

really?! no. i guess i should have been more specific.

i meant the actions in the menu when i r-click a drive, like Open,
Search..., Explore, Sharing and Security, Format..., Copy, Create
Shortcut, Rename, Properties, etc.

i was changing the Drive icon in 'Folder Options' > 'File Types' and
accidentally clicked the 'Set Default' button on the 'Edit File Type'
dialog (opened when i clicked the 'Advanced' button). the only action
in the 'Actions' list box is 'find' which is now the default.

so, when i dbl-click a drive in My Computer it opens the Search window,
and now i must r-click > 'Open' to open an explorer window and see the
contents of the drive (i.e.: C:\). i want to change it back so that
'Open' will be the default action again.

the os is windows 5.1 (xp home) [build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633:Service
Pack 1]

is there a book or site with this and other useful info like this about xp?

regsvr32 /i shell32

It caused by a bug in the dialog you were playing in.

It resets large parts of the registry back to factory conditions. This is
how windows installs itself. It's how the original entry was placed into the
registry. Setup does a regsvr32 /i shell32.
