Changing .com to .org

I maintain a system that needs to change its Windows 2000 domain name from
domainname.com to domainname.org.

dcpromo to demote then promote? Or is there another way?

Upgrade to Windows Server 2003.
 
What's the reason you need to do this? You'll need to reinstall,
really....not a lot of fun.
