Changing Cell Colors

Can someone tell me how I can change the color of a cell based on certain
criteria.

For example, I want have various task completion dates and I would like to
have excel automatically change a task completion to RED when the task has
been completed for say 30 days.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for the help.
 
take a look at Format|Conditional formatting

choose
"Cell Value is" "Less than"
and then type in: =TODAY()-30

(don't forget to apply your shading (on the pattern tab).
