I have implemented the .adm template file for Outlook from
the Office XP resource kit so that I can force
AutoArchiving on for all users in my group policy. The
question that I have is where can I change the default
name and location of the .pst file. When I change it in
the "Default location for PST files" nothing gets
changed. Am I doing something wrong or is there a
different area to change this setting. Thanks in advance
for any help.

Okay, under Tools | Option... -> Other-> AutoArchive I
don't see where you specify a location for the Archive.pst
file. Evidently, I'm blind as well ;-) Can you please
help me out a little further. Thanks again.

Alright. You found the adm template for Outlook you said? Well you need to
import this in the domain's group policy editor (Active Directory users and
computers-> right click an Organisational Unit an choose properties and
click the Group policy tab).

When you opened the right Group Policy Object go to User-Configuration->
Administrative Templates. Expand this tree; if you don't see a folder for
Outlook you need to import it by right clicking the Administrative Templates
folder, press add/remove, choose add, locate the OULK10.adm file.

So... now you've added the templated you can enforce the policy by folowing
the locating given before
Tools | Option... -> Other-> AutoArchive

I hope you got your sight back ;-)

Good Luck!

I believe that everything has been done as you have
outlined. OUTLK10.adm 10/01/2002 template is installed.
Under Tools | Option... -> Other-> AutoArchive I see the
following...
Turn on AutoArchive
Run AutoArchive every x days
Prompt before AutoArchive runs
Delete expired items
Archive or delete old items
Show archive folder in folder list
Clean out items older than
Permanently delete old items

This is all... No name or location of the Archive.pst file
option is available.

you're right; you can't change the location :-S

perhaps this KB-article is usefull for you

idea; setting a registry entry doesn't make it a policy; users can change
this key. Importing this key and then create an *.adm will allow you to set
it as a policy and makes it easy configurable in case you need to change the
location.

Good Luck!
