We have a multi w2k server network. This is the first time I come across
changing the the administrator password to the network. I changed it in
AD on the domain controller, the file server, and everything seemes to
be fine. I can log in and out, do administrative issue on the network,
etc... The only problem I have is when I log on to the Exchange server
(2000) and try to run AD or Exchange System Manager I get the following
errors:

Naming Convention could not be located because:
No authority could be contacted for authentication.
Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is
properly configured and is currently online.

A local error has occurred.
Facility: Win32
ID no: 8007203b
Exchange System Manager

Did I miss changing the password anywhere else? When I change the
password to the old one everything works great. Please help if you can

IT MGR,

I am thinking that there is possibly a service, especially an Exchange
related service, that is configured to use the Administrator user account
with the Administrative password. This would have been manually entered so
the associated password will be the 'old' password. I would suggest that
once you find this service ( or these services ) and manually change the
password then your problems will go away!

The Support Tools can be found on
the Windows Server CD in the Support -> Tools ,folder . You can also
download them from

Chriss,

I though about doing a search in the MSKB but did not. Looks like I should
have. Thanks for the catch.

Thanks for the reply guys, this problem is driving crazy!!! I checke
out all the services. About the only one that is set to login a
domin/administrator and not local system is the NAV for Microsof
Exchange and after I changed it still nothing. Do I need to mentio
that I did not restart the server, I am really worried that if
restart services are not going to start and servers are going t
replicate and connect.

I am certain that there is a password somewhere that I need t
change, I am not sure where though! I found the link about th
registry, I am not sure I need to do that yet.
I can use all the help, Once again thanks :
