Changing Actual Text In Link Bar

I've tried everything, but can't change the actual text contained in
the navigation buttons in the link bar I have on my pages.

Where is the source of this text located? I've tried changing the
page headers, etc., with no success.

You need to use JavaScript to accomplish this.

I just did a Google search for "javascript status bar" and this was one
promising hit:
