Changing acct from Server to internet

Hi
I've left my company where I was using Outlook Exchanger server.
My laptop now no longer has connection to the server so I cannot modify my private account to a POP account nor can I add a new account either encypted or unencrypted.
How can I edit Outlook to get a new POP account?
I've tried adding a new profile and a new account but no luck. Each time it brings me back to the above problem..

You configure a new Profile, add a data file & add your pop mail account and
set that profile as default

Unless you describe *in detail* what "cannot modify" and "no luck" mean, no
one can help you. Include your version of Outlook in the description.
