changing a WS name without disenjoining from domain

OK.
Heres the situation
Your computer on a network has gone belly up. You want to
replace the computer using the identical workstation name
IP address, and OS and put it on the network. You also
want to change the workstation name without having to
rejoin the domain. Does anyone know how to do this without
XP insisting you rejoin the domain?
 
You need to rejoin the domain to get the machine computer account to
update...
