Whenever I "paste" a file to notepad, then click "save as", the default
destination is "My Computer". I never save anything to "my Computer".
How do I change the default destination for "Save As" ???
TIA

Gina,

When you choose "Save As", NotePad using the currently active Folder.

In other words, if in Windows Explorer, you had chosen My Documents, then
the Save As default destination will be My Documents. You will notice that
when you choose SaveAs that the subfolders of My Documents are shown.

Let's say that under My Documents you have a folder called "Gina's Advice".
If you select that folder, then the file will be stored there.

If the "Gina's Advice" folder was the current active folder, then NotePad
would use "Gina's Advice" as the default.

Have I helped or confused?

I understand what you are saying. I guess I wasn't clear. I actually want to
save the file to the desktop and not to a folder called "desktop". Sounds a little
silly now because it's just one more click to do it !!!

Gina,
Sounds like all is ok now.

If when you want to create a new .TXT file to save to the Desktop, then
you can:
rt-click on Desktop
choose New
choose Text document
Notepad will open up.
Now when you save (don't even need to choose SaveAs), the default is Desktop.
