Changes made to query aren't saved--Access 2000

This is more of a two part issue. I'm running a series of append queries that create a numbered series of records in the file. (Basically for every record number I had in my original table, I'm creating twelve lines that each have different instructions and appending them into a new table.)
When I run through these twelve queries, I'm sometimes given an error that Access cannot append all records, and that it has set the records to null. Sometimes I'm not. (Again, these are all essentially the same queries, each just have different text being entered into the new table.) So, if I go into the design view of the query, and delete the table name under one of the columns, it will run fine. This is my first problem. I don't know why it's so sporadic, or why I even have to delet the table name in the first place.

My second problem is when I want to close the query. It asks me if I want to save changes, to which I say Yes, and then when I open the query again, changes weren't saved. I'm assuming it's because Access has some rule about needing to have a table name.

So, if anyone has any answers, they would be greatly appreciated!

If it's the bug that I think it is, go to the Database window, click Tools |
Options | General tab, and uncheck AutoCorrect option. That option does all
kinds of strange things to databases, and this is just one of the strange
things that I and others have seen.
