changes in buttons don't stick

In the past, I have added and changed menu buttons in
PowerPoint 2002, and these new menu buttons always re-
appeared in newly opened files. Until last week -- now, I
change the buttons and the changes disappear when I open a
new file. Why did the changes stick in the past, but not
now?

Is this perhaps just a case of having the shortened menus turned on? If so,
your changes may just be temporarily hidden. Click the carat at the bottom
of one of the menus and see if it expands.

Turn this off in Tools/Customize/Options. Select the option to Always show
full menus.
