I have newly reinstalled winXPPro. I change my CD-RW and
my DVD-RW drive letters (to W: and Z:), but every time I
reboot XP changes them back to F: and G:.

Anybody ever run into this?

Yup. Two suggestions

1 - Be sure that the services Logical Disk Manager and Logical Disk Manager
Administrative Service are both running.
(This one has been sort-of successful for me)

2 - Uninstall CD writing software (Roxio, Nero, whatever), change the drive
letters, reboot, reinstall
(Haven't tried this one yet - your mileage may vary)
